Isaiah 7:3 – The Other Son that Was a Sign
In Isaiah 7, we are all familiar with the “son” that would be a sign (7:14). But before that sign, there is another son that is a sign. In verse 3, Yahweh tells Isaiah to go to Ahaz with his son. That odd fact should be a clue. That son’s name is given, which is a second clue. The meaning of the son’s name is a third clue. This son is a sign. This son’s name is Shear-jashub which means, “a remnant.” Isaiah 8:18 says, “Here I am with the children the LORD has given me to be signs….”
