Jeremiah 8:2 – A Good Example of Being Bad
I cannot decide – is this a good, bad example; or a bad, good example…. Either way, sometimes we can learn good lessons from bad people.
For example, take the Israelites – they apostatized from the true God to worship that which God created – “the sun, the moon and to all the host of heaven (v.2). Foolish, stupid, and costly – and yet, they did a good job of being bad!
Notice the devotion they gave these false gods – and then let us imitate their good example of being bad, and turn it around to be a good example of being good.
Stick with me. God commented on their wrong religion: which they have loved and which they have served, and which they have gone after and which they have sought, and which they have worshiped (2).
Are we as devoted to our true God as they are to their false ones?
