Proverbs 31:10-31 – A PerryPhrase
A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than a good hunting dog or a high end sports-car. Her husband trusts her like his mother, and never has reason to regret it. Never spiteful, she treats him according to the Golden Rule every day (even when he’s told one too many joke about her) so that he wants to come home after a hard day at work. She shops around for the best sales and thrift stores, and enjoys making her kids superhero costumes and costumes for plays. She’s like a Super Wal-Mart that has everything you need, and if she doesn’t have it, it you don’t need it. She’s up before dawn, fixing the coffee, getting the kids off to school, and organizing her day. She finds a field and buys it, then, with money she’s saved, plants a garden so she can make fried okra and fried green tomatoes and for herself collard greens, just for herself, never for the husband. Never, never, never. First thing in the morning, she picks out her husband’s clothes because he can’t match anything, dresses herself for work, and get’s started. She senses the worth of her work, and works from sunup to sundown getting paid nothing except receiving the love and appreciation of her family. She’s a good cook, even better than your mother; just don’t tell your mother. She’s quick to assist the needy, reaching out to help the poor. When someone is sick at church, she is there on their doorstep with food. She doesn’t worry about her family clothes, and makes sure her sons and daughters look snappy and stay warm. She helps her family look good on a budget. Her husband is greatly respected when he goes to work. She has so many talents that she can market herself, selling cakes and cupcakes. Her clothes are well-made and modest, and she always faces tomorrow with a smile regardless of what her kids did the day before. When she speaks she has something wise or helpful to say, and she always says it kindly. She is the Memory- Maker, keeping an eye on everyone in her household, keeping them busy and productive, as they make memories together especially around the holidays. Her children are amazed by her; her husband joins in with words of praise: “Many women have done wonderful things, but you’ve outclassed them all!” Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades…but not too soon for you and yes I think you are charming. My woman is to be admired and praised because she lives fearing, respecting, serving and imitating God. Give her everything she deserves as long as you can afford it! Remember praise is free, so call her your one and only and praise her before others especially when she can hear you.
