Dining with Jesus
Never have I put these two text together but…
Genesis 3:2-3 – “The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit from the trees in the garden. But about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God said, ‘You must not eat it or touch it, or you will die.’”” (CSB’17 )
1 Corinthians 10:21-22 – “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot share in the Lord’s table and the table of demons. Or are we provoking the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?” (CSB’17 )
What prompted this thought is this tweet from Peter Leithart (#Leithart): God created an edible world, but Adam chose to feast with the serpent. God is determined to have us as His dinner guests. History is God’s work of rescuing His Bride from the table of demons to bring us to the marriage supper of the Lamb. – Peter Leithart
Are we accepting dinner invitations from Satan, instead of dining with Jesus?
