Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

Jesus is “Israel”

Jesus is Israel
Among the many roles of Jesus, one includes Jesus as New Israel succeeding where the Old Israel failed. The prophet Isaiah refers the special title “servant” as addressing both the nation of Israel and God’s special servant Jesus. Both were to be lights to the world, one failed and one succeeded.
Notice the similarities in just this broad comparative list:
Old Israel
1) Israel began through a miraculous birth.
2) Israel is called God’s son.
3) Israel suffered and was despised historically.
4) Israel endured possibly more than any nation.
5) Israel suvived although most/all ancient nations have ceased to exist.
All this purposely by divine design.
Jesus as a New Israel
1) Jesus began life in this world through a miraculous birth.
2) Jesus is called God’s Son.
3) Jesus suffered and was despised.
4) Jesus endured possibly the most painful death.
5) and yet survived through the resurrection.
Again, this was by God’s design.
All this was so the scriptures would point to Jesus. The existence and experiences of Israel itself points Israel and the world to Jesus.
This makes me ask, since we are grafted into Israel and therefore also are a new Israel, what do the scriptures teach that I must do to point the world to Jesus?
