Law and Grace
Consider how grace and love are connected:
1. God’s love leads to God’s grace.
2. Receiving God’s grace leads to loving God.
3. Loving God leads to loving others.
4. Loving others leads to giving others grace.
5. The greatest expression of love is grace.
6. The greatest expression of grace is love.
7. Therefore, grace is both the ability to know love, and the ability to show love.
The word “grace” shockingly (!) is found very little in John’s writings, and none in 1 John. However, two facts are undeniable:
1. Grace is found although the word is not.
2. Love is found repeatedly.
Geace and love are expressions.of one another and both Pardoning and Practical Grace are showing Love.
The Devil cannot love and therefore cannot give grace. All the Devil can do is treat us in ways that are not love nor grace, resulting in our need for both. Are we empty of love and grace and therefore cannot give either to others?
The ability to love comes from receiving God’s grace:
1. Therefore if you love someone you will give them approriate grace.
2. If giving Pardoning Grace and Practical Grace is hard, then you need to learn God’s love.
To perryphrase John 3:16:
For God so LOVED the world that He GRACED us with His only begotten Son, that whoever LOVES Him should not perish but will receive eternal GRACE.
