Only Two Types of Evangelism
Only Two Types of Evangelism?
“Gone” and “go”. More specifically, “having gone” and “go”. Another way of saying this is, “while out” and “go out”. These are two types – only two types possibly – of evangelism. I wonder if every other type falls under these two.
In Matthew 28:19, “go” is in the passive voice in Greek which means, “having gone”. The command isn’t to go, but what to do having gone – “make disciples”. The application for us is, “While you are already out, evangelize”.
In Mark 16:15, “go” is in the active voice in Greek which means the command is to go, followed by the command to preach. The application for us is we need to make special plans to go and evangelize.
Evangelism is a lifestyle. If you have gone out, evangelize. Plus, go out to evangelize. Evangelize any where, any time, everywhere, all the time.
P.S. That last line is how I often answer the question, “Where do you preach?”
