The Christian and Self-Defense
In light of the latest church shooting, as Luke said, “Since so many have written about what happened among us, I thought I would too (Luke 1:1-3). My current position:
1) I may passively protect my life under any circumstance (2 Cor.11:32-33).
2) I may not actively protect my life via deadly force if being persecuted for being a Christian (1 Pet.4:16).
3) I may actively protect my life and those of others via deadly force if deadly force is used against us for reasons other than being a Christian (Mt.26:53).
4) I may not use deadly force for vengeance or against theft (Rom.12:19).
