The Parable of the Car Battery:
Preaching in the kingdom of Heaven is like a car battery:
1. Positive needed.
2. Negative needed.
3. It gets you going.
4. Maintenance needed.
5. Being connected is needed.
6. But…and this might be the most important…the parts of the car that are started by the battery (i.e., engine) are not intended to continuously rely upon the battery to operate – just needed to get started. If we are only energized while hearing the preacher (or while doing the preaching) and don’t operate after it is over, the problem is not that we need a new battery. The rest of the car needs fixing.
He who has ears to ear, let him hear. And start those engines! And then run the race!
