The Writers of the New Testament
How closely are the writers of the NT connected to Jesus?
Matthew (Apostle)
Mark – Disiciple of Peter (Apostle)
Luke – Disiciple of Paul (Apostle)
John (Apostle)
Acts – Disiciple of Paul (Apostle)
Romans – Philemon – Paul (Apostle)
Hebrews?
James (Brother of Jesus)
1-2 Peter (Apostle)
1,2,3 John (Apostle)
Jude (Brother of Jesus)
Revelation (Apostle)
Two were with Jesus growing up, then unbelievers (James and Jude), and then converted after the resurrection.
Two were apostles with Jesus during His earthly mission (Matthew and John), deserted before becoming witnesses to the resurrection.
Two were “apostolic men” (Mark and Luke) who had close relationships with apostles (Peter and Paul).
One was an apostle later, and a persecutor (Paul), who had a vision of Jesus.
Quite a collection of unexpected writers, but each had a relationship giving credence to their writings about and for Jesus and His cause.
