Why Is Adultery the Only Cause?

Why Is Adultery the Only Cause?
If I could change one law of God, it might be his rule on marriage, divorce, and remarriage solely for the reason of adultery. I don’t like it and it affects so many. So why did Jesus say this in Matthew 5:32 and 19?
We as a creation of God have forgotten that marriage is not just about two people. In both the Old Testament and New Testament marriage is a metaphor for deity’s relationship with His people.
In this divine relationship we find in Jeremiah that Yahweh put away His people for idolatry which is metaphorically called adultery. So what does this mean?
It means there were other failures which did not lead to “divorce”. God’s patience with His people is a lesson about mercy and grace. Our marriages are to mirror God’s – we show patience, mercy, and grace.
Our marriages are not just between two people. Although they involve two people.
Our marriages are not just a safe environment for children. Although many studies and anecdotal evidence shows the need for children to have two parents in the home.
Our marriages are not just about stability within society. Although society suffers when marriage is not respected because it leads to disadvantages for women.
Why is marriage, divorce, and remarriage about adultery as the only cause? Our marriages are teaching moments about God’s patience, mercy, and grace. Are we?
