In reading Ephesians, and specifically 2.11-16 I see re-creation (2.15) in reversing the creation of account. In Genesis man is one (Gn 1), then two (Gn 2), then divided by sin (Gn 3). In Ephesians we have the removal of division by law (2.15) of two groups (2.15) making one man (2.15).

Thought Questions from Class on the Purpose of the OT: 1) Which came first, the OT or NT? (don’t think obvious) 2) Why not begin with the NT? 3) Is the OT mainly stories (narrative) with commands or commands with stories (narrative)? 4) Why do we (or do we) learn better from stories than commands?

By grace, the original curses become the fresh blessings and then more wondrous than physically imaginable. What is happening in Genesis 12 when God makes promises to Abraham in this new beginning? Do the curses of Genesis 3 and the blessings of Genesis 12 have anything in common? Often the curses are divided into three […]

Micah means, “Who is like Yahweh?” The answer is “no one,” and that includes a surprise “Someone” “Who is like Yahweh” because He is Yahweh in the flesh. Jesus is “God with us” (Mt.1:23). Finding Jesus in Micah is easy because Matthew points the way: Matthew 2:6 (HCSB) And you, Bethlehem, in the land of […]

“Micah thus sums up quite comprehensively in these three phrases the cardinal teachings of the Hebrew religion. The simplification of religion has always been the prophet’s vocation (what a wise observation – PDH). David reduced, as the the Talmud suggests, the 613 requirements of the Pentateuch to eleven (Ps.15); while Micah summed them all up here in three. Jesus, […]

There is absolutely no linguistic authorization for translating v.22 to refer to a miscarriage. Remember, there is a difference between an interpretation and a translation. The noun in the NASB referring to the miscarriage and in the KJV translated as fruit is yeled. It is a common word for child or offspring and means, “something born.” It […]
