The word of the LORD also came to me saying (Jer.17:1). This phrase, “the word of the Lord” is found in 255 Bible verses; 51 of those verses are in Jeremiah. Pardon my “wondering around….” But… 1) I wonder…Do we say it enough that we are preaching God’s words, and not our own? 2) I […]

This is who we are or should be: Servants do not ask to be placated and pleased, they only ask to serve. Disciples do not pretend to judge and cajole, they are content to learn and imitate their Teacher. Christians are not trying to become good enough, better than others, or besting the arguments of […]

What does Paul mean in 1 Corinthians 11:19 – “There must, indeed, be factions among you, so that those who are approved may be recognized among you.” Is this approval right and good? Or, is Paul again using sarcasm? Using the chiastic structure to interpret consider the latter. A – (17) Now in giving the […]

The Bible without the Jesus is God and Man; Holy and Unholy; Judge and Judged; Righteous and Condemned. The Bible with Jesus is God makes man like God; makes the unholy holy; saves the judged; and righteously pardons. Jesus does not get in between God’s wrath and man; Jesus is God’s love and is the […]

Faithfulness becomes foolishness when faithfulness is not content to rest on God. Rumor has it NASA discovered a “missing day” when doing calculations for satellite positioning. Running the calculations both forward and backward in time, suddenly, the computer stopped, and a red flag signaled, “ERROR.” Apparently the calculations showed a missing day in space in […]

To see beyond the human skin; Not red, yellow, black, brown or white; Is seeing God’s image within; Seeing beyond mere human sight; God’s likeness all equally share; Using God’s eyes is how we see; The divine image we do bare; Sons of man and God, we must see.

Benjamin Franklin wryly said, “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” In this world, I might add, nothing can be said to be more certain than a life without prayer, is a life without God preventing us from making stupid mistakes. Can God answer prayers that are never […]
