A Prisoner of Perfection
Confession time. One reason I stopped doing the videos is I became a prisoner of perfection. I spent so much time on one script that it became discouraging and distracting to my other work and studies. As Voltaire said, “the best is the enemy of the good”.
Do you think being a prisoner of perfection has other applications?
1. Are you postponing becoming a Christian (by being baptized for the forgiveness of your sins) because you fear you will fail? You will! Thankfully Galatians 3 shows us all will fail. We are justified by faith, not by perfection. Don’t wait any more.
2. Are you hesitant to talk to someone about Jesus thinking you might mess it up? You will! But remember, the power of the gospel is not in persuasive speech but in Jesus Christ and Him crucified (1 Corinthians 2:1-2). Start the conversation!
3. Are you lacking in serving thinking others are better? They are! And they aren’t! Peter failed, in fact every apostle failed. But Jesus still called them and is calling you to do whatever you do as if working for Jesus and not for men (Colossians 3:23). Don’t make excuses!
Don’t be like me and become a prisoner of perfection. Do admit it if it is a problem, and get back to work!
