Ephesians 4 – The 7’s of Unity

Seven is a meaningful number in Judaism (gematria). It means “creation” – think of God resting on the 7th day which Jews still do today. We are given the challenge to maintain or preserve unity (4:3). Let’s notice the 7 personal traits needed to keep the unity based on 7 unifying truths or realities (Ephesians 4:1-6):
7 personal traits of unity
1. Humility
2. Gentleness
3. Patience
4. Showing Forbearance
5. Love
6. Diligence
7. Peace

7 doctrinal pillars of unity
1. One body
2. One Spirit
3. One hope
4. One Lord
5. One faith
6. One baptism
7. One God and Father.

Unity is a creation of God maintained by us, the new creation of God.
