Hebrews 3:13 – The People Problem Business
Recently a preacher got fired for being scripturally divorced. The congregation was sympathetic to his plight due to his wife leaving him and their children, to join her “lover” in Florida. The elders, however, severed their fellowship with him as a preacher because they were afraid his situation would be a “distraction” to the congregation.
The point of this daily exhortation (Heb.3:13) is when people need us the most it is true they can become inconvenient to us. However we conveniently forget Jesus didn’t excuse Himself from the cross because it was a distraction to His purpose. Jesus is in the people problem business and so should we be – even when it is an inconvenient distraction. After all, when it comes to problems and people is there any other kind?
