1 Timothy 1:10 – Kidnappers
1 Timothy 1:10 lists “kidnapping” as contrary to the gospel and law. Naturally I think of stealing kids, but the word literally means “men stealer,” and therefore could be translated as “slave trader.” Yet in this same letter Paul commands slaves to regard their own masters with respect, especially believing masters (6.1-2). The gospel condemns those who steal the lives others both by murder and slavery. The gospel also tells the victims how to be victors, how to mentally, spiritually, and emotionally survive being in a state not of their choosing. Give to others what you have not received. Respect.
