John 15:13 – 10 Thoughts on the Greatest Love
“No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends.” (CSB’17 John 15:13)
1. There are degrees of love, some greater than others.
2. There are a limited few who show this greatest love.
3. This greatest love, like all loves, is proven by actions.
4. Life is a great gift, don’t waste it, but giving it is not a waste.
5. The goal is not love, but friends because without friends there is no love.
6. God does not ask of us what he is not willing to show.
7. Jesus is the ultimate example of love who died for even his enemies.
8. This verse is not emphasizing dying for your friends is greater than dying for your enemies, but rather the greatest love is laying down one’s life.
9. This verse is easy to “love” since most will never be called to prove this greater love. How are we at showing the lesser, but still necessary “loves”?
10. Jesus calls us his friends!
