Ephesians 4:2 – Loving Enemies; Tolerating One Another
Do Christians have an easier time loving their enemies than tolerating their fellow Christians?
Both are commands (Mt.5:44; Eph.4:2). Both are covered in the latter part of Romans 12. More importantly, both are covered in the cross.
Jesus died for those mocking him to His face, standing at His feet. Jesus died for those who deserted him soon after calling them His friends (John 15:15).
A reason so many Christians can’t get along, leave congregations, and cause splits is that we have forgotten the command to put up with each other. Shame on us thinking God had it easy – and continually has it easy – putting up with us!
