Jeremiah 1:7-9 – For Us Preachers
For Us Preachers:
Jeremiah is my favorite prophet. While his being a predestined prophet is different than us preachers, I think we can still make appropriate applications:
COMMAND – “Then the LORD said to me: Do not say, “I am only a youth,” for you will go to everyone I send you to and speak whatever I tell you.
COMFORT – Do not be afraid of anyone, for I will be with you to rescue you. This is the LORD’s declaration.
COMPETENCY – Then the LORD reached out his hand, touched my mouth, and told me: I have now filled your mouth with my words.” Jeremiah 1:7-9 CSB)
Preachers: 1) Don’t make excuses – and don’t let others look down on your youth or age; 2) Don’t let the lack of a paycheck scare you – you don’t get paid to preach, you get paid so you can devote time to preach; 3) Don’t rely on your own ability to persuade – use God’s wisdom.
