Matthew 7:1-5 – Our Specks and Logs
There is an unspoken but implied meaning in the illustration of the speck and log. The hypocrite with the log in his eye actually sees himself as being the man with the speck. Only “sinners” have sins as large as logs and the Pharisees were not “sinners.” Until we are willing to see our specks as logs, we will never be able to remove them. Not being able to remove them keeps us blind and in bondage. This leads to another tragedy – we are too blind to help set free others from their specks and logs.
