Our Faith is God’s Faith
God is faithful. We are faithful. The difference is direction, cause and effect, down to and up towards (and chiastic!) God can be counted on and I can count on God:
A – God
B – can be counted on and
B’ – I can count on
A’ – God.
Life is in this way cyclical. What God gives to us, we give to others like unto God, and give back to God. That means if our faith is not like God’s faith – loyal, merciful, covenantal, evident, loving – then we don’t have faith. That’s why James 2 is so meaningful. Seeing the needs of others – like God has seen our needs – and ignoring while giving pious platitudes, is not faith because it is not like God.
