The gospel of Mark is part of the Synoptic Gospels, Matthew, Luke, and Mark. But his introduction is more like John’s than his fellow synoptists. And yet within those similarities, there are great differences. Matthew and Luke, both include lengthy human genealogies and birth stories. Neither Mark nor John introduce such interests. John begins with […]

When Jesus was born, myrrh was given as a gift (Mt 2.11). When Jesus was crucified, they tried to give Him a drink mixed with myrrh (Mk 15.23). When Jesus died, myrrh was used to bury Him (Jn 19.39). Even in the birth of Jesus we see foreshadowed His death.

Considering how our society is de-evolving morally and religiously, could the United States become a mission field? Think through Christianity historically. From baptism, to temptation From God’s delight, to the Devil’s snares. From the voice of God, to the voice of Satan. From the voice of Heaven, to the voice from Hell. From God declaring, “This is my beloved Son,” to Satan tempting, “If you are the Son of God.” From the Holy Spirit descending upon […]

When Jesus says to the Jews, “I am the Lord of the Sabbath;” He is claiming, “I am your God who made the Sabbath.” Claims to Deity are not always direct, and whether you consider this to be a direct or indirect claim, the result is the same. There is only one way Jesus could […]

“Wonders from the Word” is about little bits of wonderment found within Scriptures. Treasures that are wonderful or questions that make us wonder in amazement. Sometimes I wonder, and I just wonder, if what I am seeing is really there, just a coincidence, or purposely placed to make a point. For example, the fall of […]

What did Eve see, when she looked at that forbidden fruit? Did she see lies and deception? Did what she see deceive her? Or, was everything she laid her eyes on the truth? She saw that the fruit was good for food (Gen.3:6). No doubt it was, since everything God created was good. She saw […]
