I’m sitting here thinking about Father’s Day, and reading so many tributes about the best fathers ever, and how they are the best men these grown children have ever known. I am struck by how this is probably a conclusion only from an adult point of view, as children still growing have so many current […]

Many kids think they are smarter than their parents, especially when they are teenagers. Some are. Regardless, even Jesus was subject to His parents (Lk.2:51) proving subjection is not based upon intelligence but position. I doubt many kids will think they are smarter than Jesus. If they do, then that is a whole other problem.

Stephen Bly in How To Be A Good Dad makes a list of what a spiritual house is not. “It’s not a place…: 1) where there’s a pulpit in the living room, and all the chairs look like pews; 2) where the only time anyone raises their voice is to say “Praise the Lord;” 3) […]

There is an emptiness that consumes. When this emptiness is God absent, we can hunger and thirst after righteousness and be filled. Sometimes the pressure is self-inflicted, at times forced on us by family; even society can be guilty […]

Marriage is a threefold covenantal contract: personal, spiritual, and social. It is never just about me, it is about others. If I take the other spouse or children out of the equation, marriage fails and they suffer. If I take God out, I fail and everyone suffers. If I forget it is a social contract, […]

The words no mother wants to hear are stammered and whispered by the doctor. The word “mother” is synonymous with selflessness. Most women would immediately and easily choose to give their life to spare their child if the doctor said, “I can only save one.” Many mothers sacrifice not their lives, but a relationship with […]

I love being a parent. No matter how dirty my truck gets, I can always blame it on the kids! But “scapegoating” our kids is not being a good parent…unfortunately! Do you ever think of how your parents raised you when dealing with your own children? I know of a woman who whenever presented with […]

Have you ever been misunderstood? Welcome to the human race! In fact, I would venture to say that men and women speak different languages, and then you throw in teenagers, and its language from another world. Let’s look at some examples. What does a man mean when he says, “Honey, you look fine.”
