The Three Most Prolific NT Writers
Who Mostly Wrote the NT?
Who wrote the most words in the New Testament?
1. Luke – 27.5% with 37,932 words
2. Paul – 23.5% with 32,408 words
3. John – 20.4% with 28,092 words.
What does this mean? The three men who wrote the most were:
1. Luke, qualified as a historian.
2. Paul, qualified as a theologian.
3. John, qualified as an eyewitness.
1. Luke, a physician by trade.
2. Paul, a tentmaker by trade.
3. John, a fisherman by trade.
1. Luke, never saw Jesus.
2. Paul, saw Jesus in a vision.
3. John, saw Jesus in the flesh.
1. Luke, never an apostle.
2. Paul, an apostle born out of season.
3. John, one of the original 12 apostles.
1. Luke, a Gentile and a Christian.
2. Paul, a persecuting Jew who became a Christian.
3. John, a Jew and a Christian.
The three most prolific writers were as different as can be, and yet God chose these three to be inspired writers. It doesn’t matter what you do, it matters that God calls you to serve. If a Gentile, non-apostle can write most of the NT, then who or what you are is not as important as how God will use you.
