Ephesians 5:25-27 – What Jesus Does For His Bride
Ephesians 5:25-27: “…Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word. He did this to present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and blameless” (HCSB).
Notice the list of Jesus’ actions towards us, His bride:
1. Christ gave himself
2. Christ washes her in water by the word
3. Christ makes her holy
4. Christ cleanses her
5. Christ gives her splendor
6. Christ makes her without spot
7. Christ makes her without wrinkle
8. Christ makes her holy
9. Christ makes her blameless
10. Christ presents her to himself
No wonder Paul earlier said: Ephesians 2:8-9: “For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift — not from works, so that no one can boast.” (CSB)
