Ephesians 4:32 – How Important is Kindness?
How important is kindness? If you are a Whovian (Dr. Who fan), you recognize how the 12th Doctor, before regenerating, said, (towards the beginning) Never be cruel, never be cowardly. And never ever eat pears! Remember – hate is always foolish…and love, is always wise. Always try, to be nice and never fail to be kind. (and again towards the close (Laugh hard. Run fast. Be kind.)
Kindness is a command, one of the most neglected – yes commands: Eph 4:32: “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” (HCSB).
Kindness is practical. It means “useable, i.e. well-fit for use (for what is really needed); kindness that is also serviceable…. refers to meeting real needs, in God’s way, in His timing (fashion)” (Bible HELPS).
Kindness is more than a command and practical.
Kindness is our hope: Eph 2:5-7: He “made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! Together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up and seated us in the heavens, so that in the coming ages He might display the immeasurable riches of His grace through His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.” (HCSB) Did you notice how we are saved by grace now and receive grace in the future because of God’s kindness?
How important is grace to you and me now and for an eternity? Do we show how important it is daily?
