Cool Trick About Chiasm – Titus 3:4-5
An interesting aspect of chiasms is sometimes you can take the corresponding parts, group them together, and the message still makes sense. For example, Titus 3:4-5:
A – (4) But when the goodness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,
B – (5) He saved us —
C – not by works [ergon] of righteousness that we had done,
C’ – but according to His mercy,
B’ – through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit. (6)
A’ – He poured out this Spirit on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, (7) so that having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.
And with the corresponding parts matched:
