Sacrificing Our Children
Sacrificiing our Children –
One of the most terrifying chapters in the Bible is Genesis 22, where God tells Abraham to sacrifice his son, but intervenes and stops it. As a “living parable”, we see a prophecy of The Father and Son at the cross. This helps dissipates the horror. The question is, in a different way than a literal sacrifice, is there any parental warning for today? Are there any ways parents today “sacrifice” their children?
1. When parents allow sports to interfere with church, their children are being “sacrificed”.
2. When parents refuse to parent because they think being their children’s friend is more important, their children are being “sacrificed”.
3. When parents allow their children to be disrespectful to both the parents and strangers, their children are being “sacrificed”.
4. When parents and grandparents leave what they believe is a faithful church to follow the children to what they believe is not a faithful church, their children are being “sacrificed”.
5. When a parent chooses to stay in a relationship where their children become victims, their children are being “sacrificed”.
