Spokesman for the Church of Christ?
I have decided to become the spokesman for the Church of Christ. We don’t have an earthly headquarters, nor a national convention. So I am taking it upon myself to handle that responsibility. “But what right do you have to do that?” some might ask. I don’t, and yet isn’t that exactly what happens when someone among God’s people says, “The Church of Christ teaches….”? Let’s speak for ourselves and our congregations, because that is as far as our authority goes. Now if I say, “The New Testament teaches”, then I better be speaking as the oracles of God (1 Peter 3:11).
