There are (only) three possible answers to the question of whether an action is pleasing to God:
1. Scripture says you can.
2. Scripture says you can’t
3. Scripture doesn’t say either one.
Therefore:
1. I know God approves of it, so I will go to Heaven.
2. I know God doesn’t approve of it, so if I don’t do it, I will go to Heaven.
3. I don’t know what God thinks about it, so I am not going presume anything, so I will go to Heaven
Authority is this simple. Remember these three words because each represents all three positions:
1. Do
2. Not
3. Presume.
