Ephesians 4:17 – Stop Acting Like Americans!
Stop being “American”!?
Paul could have easily offended the Gentile Christians if they were thin-skinned and not “thick souled”. Today too often Christians easily get their feeling hurt when it hits close to home. Borrowing and adapting a current disdainful phrase, the truth is not for the “Religiously Correct.”
Notice how Paul warns the Ephesian Gentile Christians: Ephesians 4:17: “Therefore, I say this and testify in the Lord: You should no longer live as the Gentiles live, in the futility of their thoughts.” (CSB)
Gentiles were told to stop living like Gentiles. What’s our application? Our spiritual identity takes precedence over our physical identity. So let’s all stop living like Americans! Instead, live like citizens of Heaven.
