A Prayer Commentary on 1 Thessalonians – Good Memories

Good Memories
PRAYER: Dear God, we know you recall all, but choose not to remember repented sins. Help my feeble self to focus on their good, and not my hurt. Help me concentrate on their good intentions, even when correcting me. Help me realize I am equally responsible in keeping friendships spiritually memorable. Through our Friend Jesus, amen.
TEXT: “He reported that you always have good memories of us and that you long to see us, as we also long to see you.” (CSB’17 1 Thessalonians 3:6b)
DEVOTIONAL: If they always have good memories about you, is it mainly due to you being a good friend?
While thinking, let’s consider real test case. Paul, did he have many people that always had good thoughts about him? Considering how often he had to defend himself to churches, and how Jewish religious leaders pursued him being consumed with destroying him; I doubt he had many friends from his past life or new life in Christ. Thereforevi an sure it’s quite meaningful that the Thessalonians kind memories of Paul (and he of them). How can such diverse reactions to the same person be? The same way two people can listen to the same sermon and one gets offended while the other gets their hearts pricked.
Frienship is two-way. We are just as responsible in being a good friend, as our friends are responsible for being good to us. Give to God your reactions and He can control your memories.
