Acts 13:24 – NASB vs. HCSB vs. ESV
Acts 13:24 NASB after John had proclaimed before His coming a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
Acts 13:24 HCSB Before He came to public attention, John had previously proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
Acts 13:24 ESV Before his coming, John had proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
The word “coming” in the NASB and ESV is actually a translation of two different Greek words – prosōpon, eisodos. The HCSB is the most literal here of the three with the translation, “public attention.”
